ECONOMIC RESOURCES ON THE INTERNET

There are a number of economic resources increasingly becoming available on the internet. Weíll bring thatinformation to you in our newletter starting this month.While using this information, remember that these sites are continuously evolving and changing. Weíll do our best to provide you with the latest information available. Also,note that the latest issues (First Quarter 1996) of the CHOICES magazine from the AAEA contains information on the Internet economic resources (pages 34-36). If anyone has knowledge of sites that might be of interest to our readers,please bring that information to the attention of any of the board members for inclusion in the future issue of the newsletter.

Gateway to Economic Resources

A guide with a searchable list of resourcesfor economists is available on the Internet. The guide (Copyright 1996 by WilliamL. Goffe can be obtained by E-mail from Prof. William L.Goffe, University of Southern Mississippi Hattiesburg, MS39406. Send an E-mail addressed to econ-wp@econwpa.wustl.eduand include <SENDME ECONOMICS. INTERNET-RESOURCES> in the body of the E-mail message and include <econ.faq>in the subject line. Some key topics of interest to USDA economists are included in this newsletter and more will follow in the forthcoming issues.

Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) EconomicsDivision - Natural Resources Conservation Service(NRCS) Resource Economics and Social Sciences Division -Provides resource information about the agency, staff, and pertinent economic issues. It contains great links for statistical and social sciences information.

ERS -Homepage for the Economic Research Service of the U.S.Department of Agriculture

Society of Government Economists -Society of Government Economists - Focuses on economics and public policy issues.It contains information about the organization, on-linemembership application, newsletter, lectures, and conferences.

American Agricultural Economics Association Besides links to materials in this area, this site describes the association. This includes its objectives, officers, and material on its publications and membership. There is also information on upcoming meetings.

Environmental and Resource Economists(EAERE):: This site includes details related to its objectives and publications.

Job Openings for Economists. This electronic version of JOE offers all the material in the printed version. In addition, this electronic version makesit much easier to search for specific information, but one can also browse the entire document in its usual form. This electronic version is made available at the same time as the printed version. Plans are for the current version to be kept online, and some older issues may be available as well.

Job Openings for Economists (Europe).This site, run by the Technical University of Berlin, lists job openings for economists in Europe (as well as a link to the on-line JOE). Both are listed in the directory listed below.Job adds should be sent to job-offer@otto.ww.tu-berlin.de.
