| In 2010 - Four USDA Economists Recognized for Outstanding Contributions to Agricultural Economics |

On January 21, 2010, the USDA Economists Group held its 12th annual awards ceremony in Washington, DC. Each year, the group honors distinguished economists for their contributions to agricultural economics and policy with the Economist of the Year Award and the Fred Woods Public Policy Award. In 2009, Charles Ling of the USDA Rural Development, and Economic Research Service retiree Jim Johnson were recognized.
In addition, this year, the group honors distinguished economists for their contributions to agricultural economics and policy with the John E. Lee Award for Teamwork. In 2009, Mike Price of the Economic Research Service, and Larry Salathe of the Office of the Chief Economist were recognized.

On February 4, 2009, the USDA Economists Group held its 11th annual awards ceremony in Washington, DC. Each year, the group honors distinguished economists for their contributions to agricultural economics and policy with the Economist of the Year Award and the Fred Woods Public Policy Award. In 2008, Ronald Trostle of the Economic Research Service, and Alexander Barbarika of the Farm Service Agency were recognized.
In addition, this year, the group honors distinguished economists for their contributions to agricultural economics and policy with the Bruce Gardner Outstanding Visiting Economist Award and the John E. Lee Award for Teamwork. In 2009, Dr. Otto Doering of Perdue University, and Jerry Cessna and Howard McDowell of the Agricultural Marketing Service were recognized.

In 2008, Drs. Frank Fillo of the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service Agency and Keith Collins former USDA Chief Economist were recognized.
